In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holiday, Pakistan Railways has announced the launch of five special trains aimed at easing the travel rush and ensuring safe and convenient journeys for passengers across the country.
According to an official spokesperson, these special trains will operate between June 2 and June 4, strategically covering major cities to accommodate the expected increase in passenger traffic during the festive season.
The first special train is scheduled to depart from Karachi Cantt at 1 p.m. on June 2 and will travel to Lahore, providing early holiday commuters a vital option. The second train will set off from Quetta at 10 a.m. on June 3 and head toward Peshawar Cantt, catering to the needs of passengers from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
On June 3, the third special train will depart from Lahore at 5 p.m. for Karachi Cantt, offering a return option for those planning to celebrate Eid in southern parts of the country. The fourth train will leave Karachi City at 8 p.m. the same day, with its destination set for Rawalpindi, helping northern region travelers return home ahead of the celebrations.
Finally, the fifth and last special train will depart from Karachi Cantt at 8 p.m. on June 4, once again heading to Lahore. This timing allows late travelers to catch a convenient and safe mode of transportation just before Eid.
To ensure a smooth and comfortable journey, Pakistan Railways has made special arrangements regarding the availability of coaches. The coaches for the first, second, and fourth trains will be provided directly from the department’s workshops, ensuring they are in optimal condition.
Meanwhile, the third and fifth trains will operate using existing Eid special train rakes already assigned for the purpose.
This initiative by Pakistan Railways reflects a proactive approach to public service, aiming to minimize crowding, reduce travel stress, and facilitate thousands of passengers during one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar.
