Five-year surplus crosses $17 billion as Pakistani exports to American market reach cumulative $29.15 billion
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan recorded a trade surplus of $2.59 billion with the United States during fiscal year 2025-26, maintaining its positive trade balance with one of its largest export markets, according to official sources.
Pakistan exported goods worth $5.91 billion to the United States during FY2025-26, while imports from the American market reached $3.32 billion.
Consequently, Pakistan maintained a substantial surplus despite a decline from the $4.09 billion recorded during the previous fiscal year.
Over the past five years, Pakistanโs cumulative trade surplus with the United States has exceeded $17 billion. During the same period, Pakistani exports to the US totalled $29.15 billion, while imports amounted to $12.12 billion.
Exports Maintain Strong Five-Year Performance
In FY2024-25, Pakistan exported goods worth $5.84 billion to the United States and recorded a trade surplus of $4.09 billion.
Meanwhile, the surplus stood at $4.02 billion during FY2023-24, when exports reached $5.29 billion and imports totalled approximately $1.26 billion.
Pakistan also maintained a sizeable positive balance during FY2022-23. Exports amounted to $5.285 billion, while imports reached $2.033 billion, producing a surplus of around $3.25 billion.
US Remains Major Pakistani Export Market
Furthermore, Pakistan registered a $3.07 billion surplus with the United States during FY2021-22.
Exports to the American market reached $6.83 billion that year, the highest annual figure during the five-year period, while imports stood at $3.76 billion.
The latest figures demonstrate that Pakistan has consistently exported substantially more goods to the United States than it has imported from the country.
However, the narrowing surplus in FY2025-26 reflects a significant increase in US imports alongside relatively modest growth in Pakistani exports.
Despite that shift, the accumulated five-year figures underline the continuing importance of the American market for Pakistanโs export sector and overall external trade performance.
