ISLAMABAD: The ranking of Pakistani green passport has declined this year in comparison with the previous year.
Pakistan’s passport has fallen to 183rd place globally in 2026, reversing the gradual improvement recorded over the previous two years.
According to the latest Passport Reports ranking published by Gulf News, Pakistan has a Mobility Score of 42.
The score means Pakistani passport holders can access 42 destinations through visa-free entry, visas on arrival and electronic travel authorisations.
However, only nine destinations provide completely visa-free access to Pakistani travellers.
Pakistan Passport Loses Ground in 2026
The nine visa-free destinations include Barbados, Dominica, The Gambia, Haiti, Micronesia, Rwanda, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.
Meanwhile, 29 destinations offer visas on arrival, while four allow Pakistani travellers to enter through electronic travel authorisations.
Travellers need to obtain visas before departure for the remaining 156 destinations covered by the index.
Pakistan’s latest ranking represents a significant reversal after several years of improvement.
The country ranked 180th in 2023, 175th in 2024 and 174th in 2025 before dropping nine places in 2026.
Only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan rank below Pakistan in the latest index.
Mobility Score Also Declines
Pakistan’s Mobility Score has also declined after reaching 47 in both 2023 and 2024.
The score fell to 44 in 2025 before dropping further to 42 this year.
The nine-place decline marks Pakistan’s largest annual ranking drop during the seven-year period covered by the data.
Despite improvements between 2023 and 2025, the country now ranks 14 places below its 2020 position of 169th.
However, the current Mobility Score remains six points higher than Pakistan’s 2020 score of 36.
Passport Reports measures passport strength according to the number of destinations accessible without obtaining a conventional visa before departure.
Visa-free entry provides the strongest mobility, while visa-on-arrival access requires travellers to meet entry requirements after arrival.
An electronic travel authorisation requires approval before travel but does not qualify as visa-free entry.
The latest figures show that Pakistan lost ground in both its global ranking and Mobility Score compared with 2025.
