The federal government has launched the National Immigration Policy 2026 across Pakistan. The initiative aims to improve overseas employment through safer and better-regulated migration.

Government prioritizes skilled workforce and worker protection
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain unveiled the policy framework in Islamabad. He said the initiative supports Pakistanis seeking better careers and brighter futures abroad.
Furthermore, the minister noted that international demand for skilled workers continues growing rapidly. Therefore, Pakistan must prepare its workforce with modern technical and professional expertise.
According to Hussain, the policy’s primary objective is to develop globally competitive workers. He said advanced training would improve long-term employment prospects for Pakistanis overseas.
Additionally, the policy emphasizes protecting the rights of Pakistani workers abroad. It also aims to improve governance throughout the country’s migration system.
Overseas Pakistanis contribute significantly to economy
Hussain said nearly 12 million Pakistanis currently live in different countries worldwide. He described overseas Pakistanis as ambassadors who strengthen Pakistan’s global image.
Meanwhile, he highlighted their major contribution to the national economy through foreign remittances. According to the minister, overseas Pakistanis sent more than $41 billion during the previous fiscal year.
The government pledged transparent implementation of the National Immigration Policy 2026. It also aims to maximize the economic benefits of overseas employment through better workforce development.
