Pakistan has participated in the 8th Meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan, held in Moscow.
The meeting brought Afghanistan and regional countries together to discuss developments in Afghanistan and wider regional concerns.
Pakistan sent a high-level delegation led by Mohammad Sadiq, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant and Special Representative for Afghanistan.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi also joined the delegation. Ambassador to Afghanistan Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani was also part of the discussions.
Other senior Pakistani officials accompanied the delegation during the consultations.
Regional Security Remains a Key Focus
The consultations covered several issues affecting Afghanistan and its neighbouring region.
Regional peace and security remained among the main areas of discussion. At the same time, participants also exchanged views on counter-terrorism concerns.
Economic cooperation and regional connectivity also featured prominently during the meeting. These issues remain closely linked to Afghanistan’s broader regional engagement.
The discussions provided an opportunity for participating countries to exchange views on shared security and economic challenges.
Pakistan Stresses Need for Peaceful Afghanistan
During the consultations, Pakistan reiterated the importance of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan.
Islamabad also stressed the need for continued regional dialogue on issues affecting Afghanistan and surrounding countries.
According to Pakistan’s position at the meeting, sustained engagement can help regional countries address shared concerns through dialogue.
Pakistan also highlighted the importance of addressing both security and economic challenges through continued regional consultations.
Pakistan’s Delegation Takes Part in Moscow Format
Mohammad Sadiq led Pakistan’s delegation at the latest Moscow Format meeting.
The participation of senior diplomatic and government officials reflected Pakistan’s engagement in discussions concerning Afghanistan and regional stability.
Meanwhile, the presence of Pakistan’s ambassadors to Russia and Afghanistan added further diplomatic representation to the delegation.
