Pakistan’s Muhammad Yahya and India’s Amrit Vats have joined forces to win an international junior tennis title in Djibouti.
The young pair captured the doubles crown at the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J30 tournament. Their victory brought together athletes from the two neighbouring countries in a successful international partnership.
Yahya and Vats delivered a strong performance in the final.
They defeated Thailand’s David Avayou and Saudi Arabia’s Ahmad Bahaa Sarouji in straight sets. The Pakistan-India duo secured the title with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory.
Their result highlighted the value of teamwork and sporting cooperation across borders.
Despite the intense rivalry that often surrounds Pakistan and India in international sport, Yahya and Vats worked effectively as a doubles combination and completed the tournament with the championship trophy.
The victory is also an important achievement for Pakistan’s junior tennis programme.
Pakistan Tennis Federation President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi congratulated Muhammad Yahya on his success. He praised the young player’s performance and sportsmanship at the international event.
PTF Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail and other federation officials also congratulated Yahya.
They expressed hopes that he would continue producing strong performances in international junior competitions.
The ITF junior circuit provides young players with valuable competitive experience and opportunities to improve their international standing.
For Yahya, the Djibouti title represents another important step in his developing tennis career.
The victory has also attracted attention because of the unusual Pakistan-India partnership.
Their success showed how sport can create cooperation even between athletes from countries better known for fierce sporting rivalry.
Yahya and Vats will now look to build on the achievement as they continue competing in international junior tennis events.
