Diesel Price Increased for Next 15 Days
Pakistanโs government has announced a significant increase in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD). The price has been raised by Rs11.30 per litre for the next 15 days. The new diesel price has been fixed at Rs268.38 per litre. This change took effect from midnight, according to an official notification issued on Saturday.
The increase is part of the governmentโs periodic fuel price revision. Diesel is a major fuel used in transportation, agriculture, and industry. The hike is expected to impact transport costs and the prices of goods and services across the country. The new price will remain in force for the next two weeks, after which another review may be conducted.
Petrol Prices Stay the Same
While diesel prices were increased, petrol rates have been kept unchanged. The government confirmed that petrol will continue to sell at Rs253.17 per litre. The decision to keep petrol rates stable may provide relief to motorists and commuters.
Petrol is widely used by private vehicle owners and public transport services. Keeping petrol prices unchanged is likely to ease some financial pressure on daily commuters. However, the diesel price hike may still affect overall transport costs and inflation.
The governmentโs notification clarified that petrol prices will remain unchanged for the same 15-day period. The government regularly reviews fuel prices based on global oil rates and currency fluctuations. This review mechanism helps adjust local fuel prices according to international market trends.
LPG Prices Increased Due to Rising Import Costs
On the same day, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced a rise in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). According to OGRAโs notification, the price of LPG has been increased by Rs6.37 per kilogram. The new rate for domestic LPG cylinders has been set at Rs75.21 per kilogram.
The LPG price increase will come into effect from February 1, 2026. OGRA said the hike was due to rising global LPG prices and higher import costs. This increase is expected to impact households that rely on LPG for cooking and domestic use.
OGRA urged consumers to explore alternative energy sources to reduce household expenses. Many families may face additional financial strain due to the rising cost of LPG. The regulator highlighted the importance of energy conservation and efficient usage of gas cylinders.
The combined increase in diesel and LPG prices may further push inflation in Pakistan. Analysts warn that transport and household costs may rise in the coming weeks. Consumers and businesses are expected to adjust budgets to manage the higher fuel expenses.
The governmentโs decision to keep petrol prices unchanged may offer some relief. However, the diesel and LPG price hikes are likely to affect the cost of living for many households. The next fuel price review is expected after the 15-day period.
