President Donald Trump pledged stronger military action against Tehran and its Houthi allies. He accused them of expanding the regional conflict.
According to reports, exploratory discussions took place during Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni’s Islamabad visit. The trip marked his second visit within ten days.
China Backs Pakistan’s Diplomatic Mediation Efforts
Reports said Pakistan discussed possible steps towards resuming US-Iran dialogue. Furthermore, China has consistently supported Islamabad’s mediation efforts.
Earlier this year, Beijing dispatched its special envoy across the Middle East. The diplomatic mission promoted dialogue between regional stakeholders.
China faces growing economic concerns over disrupted shipping routes. Consequently, instability threatens both the Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea trade corridor.
China’s foreign ministry welcomed Pakistan’s mediation efforts in an official statement. It also pledged continued support for restoring regional peace and stability.
Qatar Calls For Dialogue And Regional Stability
Separately, Qatar urged all parties to return to diplomatic negotiations. Officials encouraged implementing the existing US-Iran memorandum of understanding.
Qatar stressed protecting freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, officials said regional security depends upon continued diplomatic engagement.
Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman met British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in Doha. During discussions, both sides addressed regional stability.
Qatar reaffirmed support for peaceful negotiations and lasting agreements. Therefore, diplomatic efforts continue despite growing military tensions across the region.
