Pakistanโs new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Tipu Usman, presented his credentials in London. He formally submitted his Letters of Appointment during a ceremony held at Lancaster House on Tuesday.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Vice Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Scott Furssedonn-Wood. The development marks the official start of Tipu Usmanโs diplomatic tenure in the United Kingdom.
Envoy Reaffirms Strong Bilateral Ties
During the meeting, Tipu Usman conveyed good wishes from Pakistanโs leadership and people. He also extended greetings to the leadership and people of the United Kingdom.
Furthermore, he reaffirmed Pakistanโs commitment to strengthening relations with Britain. He stressed the importance of close cooperation between both countries.
The high commissioner highlighted Pakistanโs desire to expand engagement with British counterparts. He also emphasized the value of the long-standing bilateral partnership.
Experienced Diplomat Begins London Assignment
Tipu Usman assumed charge as Pakistanโs High Commissioner to the United Kingdom on July 20, 2026. He is a senior career diplomat with extensive experience in foreign affairs.
Before this appointment, he served as Chief of State Protocol in Islamabad. During his diplomatic career, he held several important positions abroad.
He served as Deputy Head of Mission in Riyadh. Additionally, he worked as Counsellor at Pakistanโs Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
He also served as First Secretary in Ankara and Vice Consul in Vancouver, Canada. These assignments provided him with broad experience in bilateral and multilateral diplomacy.
His appointment begins a new chapter in Pakistan-UK relations. Meanwhile, officials expect him to enhance diplomatic engagement and cooperation across various sectors.
