Pakistan summoned the Afghan ambassador to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey strong objections regarding the India–Afghanistan joint statement issued the previous day.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan expressed concern over remarks made by the Afghan caretaker foreign minister during his visit to India, particularly references to Jammu and Kashmir as part of India. Islamabad emphasized that such statements contravene United Nations resolutions and violate the recognized legal status of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Foreign Office stressed that the joint statement demonstrated a disregard for the sacrifices of the people of occupied Kashmir and their struggle for the right to self-determination. Pakistan also rejected the Afghan minister’s characterization of terrorism as merely an internal matter for Pakistan.
Officials reminded Afghanistan that groups such as Fitna al-Kharij and Fitna al-Hindistan operate from Afghan soil, targeting Pakistan. Islamabad asserted that Afghan authorities had been repeatedly informed about the activities of these groups, and Pakistan had provided detailed intelligence regarding their operations.
The statement highlighted that the Afghan interim government could not shift responsibility for cross-border terrorism onto Pakistan. Islamabad insisted that it remains the obligation of Afghan authorities to take effective measures to curb terrorism originating from their territory.
Pakistan stressed that fostering regional peace and stability requires Afghanistan to act decisively against militant networks operating within its borders.
The Foreign Office underscored Pakistan’s commitment to constructive regional engagement but reaffirmed that unilateral statements undermining Kashmir’s legal status or ignoring cross-border terrorism are unacceptable.
Islamabad called on Kabul to adopt a responsible approach that respects international law, regional security concerns, and the rights of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan’s response reflects heightened sensitivity to statements by neighboring countries that could affect regional dynamics and security. By formally summoning the Afghan ambassador, Islamabad conveyed that it expects accountability and tangible action from Afghan authorities to address the concerns raised, while reinforcing Pakistan’s consistent position on Kashmir and cross-border terrorism.
The Foreign Office concluded that Pakistan will continue to monitor developments closely and engage with relevant stakeholders to ensure that regional peace, stability, and adherence to international law are upheld.
