Pakistan has confirmed that its troops are already stationed in Saudi Arabia across multiple military capabilities and operational domains.
Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry made the statement on Wednesday. He said Pakistani forces have maintained a presence in the kingdom for decades.
The remarks came during an interview in which he was asked whether Pakistani personnel were already present in Saudi Arabia under the Makkah alliance.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said the current arrangement builds on long-standing defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
He also highlighted the broader strategic relationship involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye. According to him, the alliance is rooted in years of diplomatic, political, military and people-to-people ties.
His comments followed a recent agreement among the three countries to immediately implement collective defence commitments.
The decision was taken during an emergency meeting of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in Riyadh on Monday.
According to a joint statement shared by Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the three countries agreed on the rapid deployment of approved military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia.
The deployment will take place under agreed arrangements and in line with each country’s national laws.
The measures are aimed at improving military readiness, integration and collective defence capacity.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in August.
Under the agreement, an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all participating states.
The latest statement confirms that Pakistan’s military presence in Saudi Arabia is not new. However, the new defence framework gives the cooperation a stronger multilateral structure.
The development reflects deepening security coordination among the three countries as regional tensions continue to shape defense planning.
