The Pakistan Football Federation has started installing the countryโs first FIFA Arena football pitch as part of a major grassroots development initiative, President Mohsin Gilani said on Monday.
He stated that authorities will construct a modern mini football pitch at a government school in Lahoreโs Sabzazar area in collaboration with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. Meanwhile, work on a second pitch in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will begin soon, signaling an expansion of the initiative beyond one region.
According to Mohsin Gilani, FIFA has already approved 11 Arena pitches for Pakistan, while the federation has requested an additional 15 facilities to further strengthen football infrastructure nationwide. He added that the Government of Pakistan has assured full support and provision of necessary facilities to ensure timely completion of the project.
Furthermore, Gilani emphasized that the initiative reflects the federationโs commitment to promoting football at the grassroots level. He noted that such facilities will provide children with safe and modern spaces to play, train, and develop their skills.
As a result, the project aims to nurture young talent and increase participation in football across the country. Officials believe that improved infrastructure, combined with international collaboration, will help elevate Pakistanโs football standards and create new opportunities for aspiring players in the years ahead.
