ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Bangladesh have discussed ways to increase bilateral trade in textiles and related sectors, with both sides exploring measures to reduce trade barriers.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Mahmud Hasan Khan and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, at the BGMEA office in Dhaka.
The two sides also discussed implementing a memorandum of understanding previously signed between BGMEA and the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA).
Under the agreement, the organizations are expected to organize joint activities aimed at strengthening cooperation between textile and garment businesses in both countries.
Mahmud Hasan Khan also invited Pakistani companies to participate in the Bangladesh Apparel and Textile Exposition (BATEXPO), scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2026. The event is expected to provide Pakistani businesses with opportunities to establish new commercial contacts and explore potential partnerships in Bangladesh’s large apparel and textile market.
Meanwhile, High Commissioner Imran Haider assured the BGMEA leadership of Pakistan’s full cooperation in efforts to strengthen bilateral trade and commercial relations.
The latest engagement highlights growing efforts by Pakistan and Bangladesh to expand economic cooperation, particularly in the textile and garment sectors.
