ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral economic relations, expanding trade and attracting investment through the early implementation of previously signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
The commitment emerged during a meeting between Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmad Sheikh and Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Sirjan Zhomangarin.
During the meeting, Sheikh emphasized the importance of business-to-business cooperation, stronger private-sector engagement and improved banking channels to facilitate bilateral trade and investment.
He identified several promising sectors, including e-commerce, warehousing, textiles and mining. He also highlighted Kazakhstan’s affordable energy resources as an opportunity for Pakistani investors, particularly in the textile industry.
Referring to the MoUs signed during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Kazakhstan in February 2026, Sheikh stressed the need for their timely implementation to deliver tangible economic benefits.
Meanwhile, Zhomangarin reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and increasing trade volumes. He said a five-year roadmap had been prepared to advance economic cooperation.
He also highlighted Pakistan’s market of approximately 250 million people and described Kazakhstan as a potential gateway for Pakistani businesses seeking access to Eurasian markets.
Both sides emphasized improved connectivity, including direct air links, to facilitate trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges. Kazakhstan’s foreign minister is also expected to visit Pakistan for an SCO preparatory meeting.
