Islamabad: The Sixth International Paigham-i-Islam Conference awarded top honours to Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday. Organisers conferred the titles of “Leader of Peace” and “Greatest Victorious General of the Century” on him for his outstanding contributions to regional stability and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Conference Strongly Condemns Attacks on Iran
The event, organised by the International Tazeem-i-Haramain Sharifain Council and Pakistan Ulema Council, brought together senior government officials, religious scholars, and international delegates. Participants strongly condemned recent US and Israeli attacks on Iran. They also expressed deep concern over strikes targeting Arab countries and described them as harmful to regional peace.
Transitioning to broader resolutions, the conference called for stronger national security, greater unity among Muslim nations, and improved interfaith harmony. Prominent attendees included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and high-level Saudi and Palestinian representatives.
Awards Recognise Contributions to Peace
Organisers presented several global honours during the conference. They gave Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a shield of appreciation for his firm stance on Palestine. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a special award for strengthening defence ties with Pakistan and promoting peace. Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, reaffirmed full support for the government and armed forces. He congratulated the nation on recent successes, including victories in Marka-i-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
Ashrafi also condemned the killing of prominent cleric Maulana Muhammad Idrees and stressed that violence has no place in Islam. The conference announced plans for the seventh edition in March 2027, inviting global religious leaders to promote harmony.
This recognition highlights Pakistan’s growing role in fostering unity and stability in the Muslim world. The final session will take place at Aiwan-i-Sadr under President Asif Ali Zardari.
