Karachi-Skardu Flight Lands in Islamabad
More than 180 passengers travelling from Karachi to Skardu on a Pakistan International Airlines flight were left stranded in Islamabad on Monday.
According to passengers, the flight was originally scheduled to land in Skardu at 7 a.m.
However, the aircraft departed from Karachi after a delay of about one and a half hours.
Passengers said the plane later landed at Islamabad Airport instead of reaching its scheduled destination.
They claimed they were informed after landing that they would have to make their own travel arrangements to reach Skardu.
Passengers Demand Alternative Arrangements
Several passengers said they were shocked by the situation, especially because families, children, women, and elderly people were also on board.
One passenger said they were told to travel to Skardu on their own.
Passengers claimed no proper alternative transport or hotel arrangements were provided by the airline.
They also alleged that airline staff warned them against protesting.
According to passengers, they were told they could be sent back to Karachi if they created a disturbance.
Some passengers further claimed they had been informed that no refunds would be issued.
Airline Faces Criticism Over Handling
The incident has sparked anger among passengers, who said they faced serious inconvenience due to the diversion and lack of support.
Many passengers said they had planned onward travel, hotel bookings, and personal commitments in Skardu.
They said the airline should have arranged another flight, ground transport, accommodation, or refunds.
The situation has raised fresh questions about passenger facilitation and communication during flight disruptions.
Passengers urged the authorities and airline management to take notice of the matter and provide immediate relief.
The incident also highlights the need for clear policies when flights are diverted due to delays, weather, operational reasons, or other issues.
PIA has not yet issued a detailed public response regarding the passengersโ allegations.
