More than 16,000 police personnel have been deployed for Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. Authorities aim to ensure peaceful and transparent polling across the region.
The deployment includes officers from all four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan. Moreover, the contingent will assist local authorities in maintaining law and order.
According to official details, Punjab has dispatched 14,000 police personnel. Meanwhile, Sindh has contributed 2,000 officers for election security.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sent 500 personnel for polling duties. Additionally, Balochistan has deployed 200 officers and Gilgit-Baltistan has contributed 100.
Punjab Provides Largest Police Contingent
The Central Police Office Operations Punjab issued the deployment orders. Consequently, officers from several districts have departed for AJK.
Lahore alone has provided around 1,550 police personnel for the elections. Furthermore, officers from Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad joined the deployment.
Authorities assigned the officers to strengthen election security across sensitive areas. They will remain on duty throughout the polling process.
Security Measures Strengthened For Elections
Earlier, the AJK government requested additional police support from the Federal Ministry of Interior. The request aimed to ensure peaceful and transparent Legislative Assembly elections.
Officials decided to deploy personnel from different provincial police forces. Therefore, authorities expect improved security and effective law enforcement during polling.
The additional force will help maintain public order across the region. Meanwhile, officials continue monitoring preparations to ensure smooth election proceedings.
