ISLAMABAD: The opposition leaders in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) today demanded resignation from the Prime Minister Imran Khan after the PTI government lost majority in the National Assembly.
Addressing a joint press conference in Islamabad today afternoon, PDM leaders said after MQM’s support to the no-confidence move, the PTI government has lost majority in the lower house. Thus, they said, PM Imran Khan should resign immediately and stop staging farce of conspiracy of “threat letter”.
They said that the “threat letter” was just a blame-game and nothing else and PM Khan should step down an an honourable way.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, and BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal, among others, are attending the press conference.
Meanwhile, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and DG ISI Naveed Anjum have reached the PM House and hold a meeting with PM Imran Khan to discuss the latest situation. This meeting is being termed very important in the prevailing rapidly swinging political situation in the country and PM’s meeting with the cabinet members wherein he discussed with them threat letter and latest political scenario in the country.

The prime minister also held on Wednesday an emergency meeting of the federal cabinet, which ended at around 4pm.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed said that Prime Minister will address the nation today afternoon. He also said that the PM would share content of the letter with some journalists, but the idea was dropped at the eleventh hour.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed told said after the cabinet meeting that Imran Khan will not step down as prime minister of the country and will fight back until the end.
He said that the letter containing a threat from a foreign country was presented before the cabinet. He again the prime minister in his address will also speak about the allies who have left him.
