ISLAMABAD: Oman has praised Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and security, particularly its diplomatic efforts to encourage dialogue between the United States and Iran amid escalating regional tensions.
Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi expressed these views during the eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar co-chaired the meeting with his Omani counterpart. Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation and promoting stability across the region.
During the discussions, Dar highlighted the importance of diplomatic engagement in addressing regional conflicts. The ministers exchanged views on tensions involving the United States and Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al-Mandab, Gaza, Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Dar warned that regional instability had disrupted energy supply chains and increased prices, placing additional financial pressure on ordinary people. He stressed that Pakistan and Oman could contribute to resolving regional challenges through coordinated diplomatic efforts.
Meanwhile, Al Busaidi identified trade, logistics, port connectivity, energy, food security, technology and tourism as promising areas for closer cooperation.
Both countries also emphasised stronger private-sector partnerships, institutional cooperation and increased people-to-people exchanges.
The ministers agreed that regular high-level meetings would help strengthen bilateral ties and translate shared objectives into practical outcomes.
Pakistan and Oman maintain longstanding historical, cultural and diplomatic relations, with both sides expressing their commitment to expanding cooperation and supporting lasting regional peace and development.
