Oklahoma health officials have issued a public warning following a large-scale recall of salad dressings and condiments distributed across the country. The Oklahoma County Health Department confirmed that thousands of gallons of dressing products manufactured by Ventura Foods LLC are affected.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recall has been classified as a Class II recall, meaning the products may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects. The concern stems from the possible presence of black plastic planting material fragments that may have entered certain batches during production.
The recalled items were shipped to delis, cafeterias, grocery stores, and food service locations in 27 states, including Oklahoma. Health officials are urging both consumers and food service operators to carefully review their inventory to determine whether they have received any of the affected products.
Among the recalled items are Italian Salad Dressing, Creamy Poblano Avocado Ranch Dressing and Dip, Pepper Mill Caesar Dressings, Ventura Caesar Dressing in bulk containers, and Hidden Valley Buttermilk Ranch. Certain Caesar dressing products distributed to Costco service delis and food courts are also included in the recall.
Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to consume them. Instead, officials recommend discarding the items immediately or returning them to the place of purchase for a refund.
At this time, no illnesses have been reported. Officials say the recall is a precautionary step aimed at protecting public health.
