LAHORE: An accountability court in Lahore has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Moonis Elahi, the son of PTI President Pervaiz Elahi, in a case related to alleged extensive corruption in development projects. Judge Naseem Ahmed Virk issued these orders while hearing a petition from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The court has instructed NAB to present the accused before it by October 5. Authorities have accused Moonis in a corruption case involving billions of rupees in development schemes.

The NAB lawyer informed the court that they issued warrants for Moonis on August 11, but the accused allegedly went into hiding when authorities attempted to arrest him.
Pervaiz Elahi, Moonis’s father, has faced multiple arrests despite a Lahore High Court order not to arrest him. The PTI has asserted that the party president is being targeted for remaining loyal to the party and not holding a press conference, in contrast to others who, upon their release, left the Imran Khan-led party during a media appearance.
In April of the same year, the Anti-Corruption Establishment filed charges against former Chief Minister Pervaiz, Moonis, and former Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Muhammad Khan Bhatti for accepting bribes. The ACE alleged that the suspects had received a sum of Rs120 million as a bribe in connection with a payment of Rs2.9 billion to a foreign company. The anti-graft agency also accused the former chief minister of misusing his authority.
Last month, authorities booked Moonis for attempted murder in Gujrat.
