Security forces eliminated nine terrorists during two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operations were carried out in Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu districts. The action took place on December 19.
According to official details, the terrorists belonged to Indian proxy Fitna al-Khawarij. The group had remained involved in multiple attacks across the region. As a result, security forces acted on confirmed intelligence.
Operation in Dera Ismail Khan
Security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan district. The action followed reports about terrorist presence in the area. Troops approached the location with caution and strategic planning.
Soon after contact, forces engaged the terrorists during an intense exchange of fire. Four terrorists were killed during the encounter. The operation concluded successfully after the area was secured.
The eliminated militants had been actively involved in terrorist activities. Their actions targeted security personnel and civilians. Therefore, the operation marked a significant security achievement.
Bannu Operation Eliminates Five More Terrorists
Meanwhile, another intelligence-based operation took place in Bannu district. Security forces identified a separate terrorist hideout. They moved swiftly to prevent escape.
During the operation, five terrorists were neutralised. The forces maintained full control throughout the engagement. No casualties were reported among security personnel.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site. The recovered items indicated planned future attacks. Consequently, the operation disrupted potential threats.
Sanitisation and Security Measures Continue
Following both operations, sanitisation activities began immediately. Security teams continued search operations in surrounding areas. The aim remains to eliminate any remaining threats.
Authorities confirmed that vigilance remains high across the region. Security forces are maintaining operational readiness. This approach ensures long-term stability.
Rising Terror Threat in Border Regions
Pakistan has faced increased terrorist incidents in recent years. The trend intensified after developments in Afghanistan in 2021. Bordering provinces remain particularly affected.
Cross-border terrorism has triggered serious security concerns. It also led to clashes along the Pak-Afghan border earlier. Therefore, diplomatic engagement followed recent attacks.
Days earlier, Pakistan conveyed concerns to Afghan authorities. The message highlighted continued terrorist facilitation. Officials reaffirmed the right to defend national sovereignty.
Firm Resolve Against Terrorism
Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to counter terrorism decisively. Security forces continue proactive intelligence-led operations. The objective remains the protection of citizens and national security.
These latest operations underline that resolve clearly. They also reflect sustained counterterrorism efforts nationwide.
