Lahore: Police reported that nine suspects were killed and two officials injured during multiple encounters with the Crime Control Department (CCD) across Punjab on Tuesday. Authorities said several operations took place in Lahore, while additional incidents occurred in Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, and Bahawalpur.
In Lahore, CCD teams conducted raids in different areas following intelligence reports. In the Sundar area, officials claimed armed suspects opened fire during a raid, injuring two constables. Police returned fire, and two suspects were killed. Authorities later identified them as individuals wanted in numerous criminal cases.
Meanwhile, another operation in Iqbal Town led to the deaths of two suspects already in custody. Police stated that accomplices attacked the team during a recovery operation, triggering an exchange of fire. Officials claimed the suspects died due to gunfire from their associates.
In a separate incident in DHA, police said motorcyclists opened fire when signalled to stop. Officers responded, resulting in two fatalities, while one suspect escaped.
Elsewhere, CCD teams in Sahiwal killed two suspects during a late-night encounter after an attempted escape. Police reported recovering weapons from the scene and launched a search for fleeing accomplices.
Similarly, in Toba Tek Singh, officials said a suspected drug dealer died after an exchange of fire near Chohala Mor. Authorities alleged he had links to serious crimes.
In Bahawalpur, police arrested an injured suspect following a shootout, while others fled. Investigations continue across all cases.
