Nine people, including a young girl, were killed in separate violent incidents in Balochistan on Sunday. The fatalities occurred during an armed attack in Qila Abdullah and a tribal clash in Dera Bugti. Police launched investigations into both incidents.
Armed Attack Leaves Five Dead in Qila Abdullah
According to police, armed men entered the Killi Badawan area and opened fire on rival tribesmen. The attack killed four tribesmen at the scene after they suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, a young girl later died while receiving treatment in Quetta.
Officials said the attackers also fired hundreds of rounds into the air before fleeing. Consequently, police and law enforcement agencies reached the area and launched a search operation. Authorities are attempting to trace those involved in the attack.
Police believe the incident resulted from a longstanding tribal feud. Officials said the affected group had previously killed six members of the rival side. One attacker reportedly declared that the assault was carried out in revenge.
Following the attack, members of the affected tribe blocked the QuettaโChaman Highway in protest. They demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killings. However, district officials successfully negotiated with protesters, restoring traffic after several hours.
Tribal Clash Claims Four More Lives in Dera Bugti
In a separate incident, rival factions of the Bugti tribe exchanged gunfire in Dera Bugti. Police said the dispute reportedly began over a marriage proposal. Both groups allegedly used automatic weapons during the clash.
The exchange of fire killed four people from the rival factions. Additionally, another person sustained injuries during the incident. Rescue teams shifted the injured individual to the district hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, law enforcement personnel deployed heavily across the area to prevent further violence. Police continue investigating both incidents to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly clashes.
