Severe weather claimed nine lives and injured seven people across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning triggered multiple incidents, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). Consequently, rescue teams launched relief operations in the affected areas.
Weather Leaves Death and Destruction
PDMA’s initial report confirmed that five men, two women, and two children lost their lives. Additionally, seven people suffered injuries during weather-related incidents across the province. The fatalities resulted from powerful winds, torrential rainfall, and lightning strikes.
The affected districts include Dera Ismail Khan, Upper Dir, Kohat, and Orakzai. Moreover, severe weather damaged four houses during the incidents. Three homes sustained partial damage, while one house was completely destroyed.
Authorities Launch Relief Operations
The Director General of PDMA instructed district administrations to provide immediate assistance to affected families. Furthermore, officials ordered rescue teams to accelerate relief operations across the impacted districts. PDMA, Rescue 1122, and local administrations remain present in affected areas to support victims.
Meanwhile, authorities urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the ongoing adverse weather conditions. They also advised people to stay away from sensitive tourist destinations until conditions improve.ย
