Rain System
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning, anticipating weather-related challenges in the coming weeks, including flash floods, snow blockages, and landslides in various parts of Pakistan.
According to the advisory issued on Sunday, a new system of heavy western rainfall is projected to affect the country from March 5 to March 7.
The NDMA highlighted that areas most susceptible to the impact of heavy rains include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Upper and Southern Punjab, and Balochistan.
Despite the possibility of flooding, the NDMA assured that any such occurrence would be localized, with no risk of downstream flooding. However, areas with crops could potentially face damage.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has also forecasted cold and dry weather in most parts of the country on Monday, except for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan, where light snowfall and thunderstorms are expected.
Later in the week, thunderstorms are anticipated in various regions, including Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Zhob, Gwadar, Chagi, Noushki, Kharan, Washuk, Kalat, Chitral, Malakand, Swat, Potohar region, and Kashmir. Hilly areas are expected to receive snowfall.
Gwadar, already grappling with the aftermath of torrential rain, is predicted to experience further rainfall from March 9.
The cautionary measures by NDMA and weather predictions emphasize the need for preparedness and vigilance in the affected regions to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety of the residents.
In conclusion, NDMA warns of flash flooding, snow blockages, and landslides due to incoming rain system in coming Weeks.
