LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif ended silence over ongoing debate about the creation of the new provinces. He advised the PML-N leaders to avoid discussions for new provinces.
PML-N awaits final policy
Nawaz instructed PML-N leaders to refrain from discussing the issue until the party finalises its position.
The sources said party members must avoid making public statements about the proposal for now.
They added that the PML-N leadership would announce its final policy after completing consultations on the matter.
The directive comes as political parties continue debating demands for new provinces in the country.
Meanwhile, political consultations also continued between the federal government and provincial leadership.
Shehbaz and Murad discuss political matters
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Monday.
During the meeting, both leaders agreed to maintain political harmony and continue consultation on matters of national importance.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, they discussed political affairs and issues concerning Sindh. They also reviewed ongoing development projects and other matters of mutual interest.
Federal Ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the meeting. Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah also participated in the discussion.
The meeting decided to promote coordination between the federal and provincial governments for better governance and development.
