The federal government has reduced petrol and high-speed diesel prices for the next pricing period.
The Petroleum Division announced the changes on Tuesday under the country’s petroleum pricing mechanism. The new rates will take effect from September 23, 2026.
Petrol will become Rs1.70 cheaper per litre. Its new price stands at Rs392.05, down from Rs393.75.
High-speed diesel will see a larger reduction of Rs3.12 per litre. Its price will fall from Rs422.08 to Rs418.96.

The revised prices will apply from September 23.
Petrol now costs Rs392.05 per litre. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel costs Rs418.96 per litre.
The government reviews petroleum prices based on changes in international markets and other related costs.
Global Oil Rates Drive Price Change
The Petroleum Division said global market developments influenced the latest adjustment.
The calculation includes changes in Platts rates, petroleum premiums and other related costs.
The revised prices will remain applicable under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism until the next scheduled review.
