The federal government has introduced new customs tariff codes for heavy commercial vehicle tyres and motorcycle parts. The move aims to establish clearer classifications for selected automotive products under Pakistan’s customs system.
The Revenue Division of the Ministry of Finance issued the changes through an official notification on Saturday.
Government Announces New Customs Tariff Codes
According to the notification, the government issued SRO 1898(I)/2026 to amend the existing SRO 693(I)/2006.
The revised notification introduces separate Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) codes for different categories of tyres.
PCT code 4011.2091 now covers radial tyres used in heavy commercial vehicles.
Meanwhile, PCT code 4011.2099 applies to other tyres included in the relevant classification.
These changes provide specific identification codes for the listed products.
Motorcycle Parts Included in New Customs Classification
The government has also introduced PCT code 8714.1090 for several motorcycle components and accessories.
The updated classification includes number plates, brackets, side reflectors, and right and left side plates.
Front decorative connection parts, foot plates, wheel assemblies, and windscreen components are also covered.
Additionally, seat boxes, toolboxes, and centre covers fall under the revised category.
Will the New Rules Affect Vehicle Parts Prices?
The government introduced the amendments under Section 18(5) of the Customs Act, 1969.
The new classifications may help customs authorities identify products more precisely during import processing.
However, the notification does not announce any changes to customs duty rates.
Therefore, the revised codes should not be interpreted as an immediate increase in import taxes.
Importers and businesses dealing in the specified automotive products should review the updated classifications.
