Wednesday witnessed a significant reshuffling in the administrative landscape of Punjab, marked by a notification from the Services & General Administration Department (S&GAD) announcing the transfer of Commissioners in Multan and Rawalpindi. The move reflects a strategic realignment of experienced officials to bring fresh perspectives to key regions.
Amir Khattak, as outlined in the S&GAD notification, will now take on the role of Commissioner in Rawalpindi. His transfer implies a potential impact on the administrative dynamics of Rawalpindi, introducing his wealth of experience and leadership to the region. Such shifts can play a crucial role in shaping governance and development strategies at the local level.
Simultaneously, Maryam Khan, formerly the Secretary I&C, is set to assume the position of Commissioner in Multan. Her background in the industrial and commercial sector positions her as a valuable asset in steering the development and governance initiatives in Multan. The infusion of her expertise into the administrative framework reflects a thoughtful approach to aligning officials with the unique demands of specific regions.
Earlier developments had seen Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa, Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), taking on the additional responsibility of Commissioner for Rawalpindi Division. This interim measure, as per a notification from Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, was designed to manage the transition seamlessly. Liaquat Ali Chatta, the outgoing Commissioner of Rawalpindi Division, has been promptly transferred and directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department, Government of Punjab.
In essence, these administrative changes underscore the government’s commitment to optimizing the skills and experiences of its officials, strategically placing them in roles where they can contribute most effectively. The careful consideration of each official’s background and expertise suggests a deliberate effort to enhance local governance and development across the Multan and Rawalpindi regions.
