Fresh CCTV footage has advanced the investigation into businessman Mir Raza Aliโs murder in Karachi. Police continue reviewing evidence to reconstruct his final movements before the killing. Moreover, investigators have recovered his mobile phone and sent key evidence for forensic examination.
Mir Raza, an IBA graduate, returned home from his shop on July 28. However, he left again after telling his family he would return within 10 minutes. Police later found his body in bushes located in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Investigators are now reviewing footage captured from multiple locations. Consequently, they hope to establish a clear timeline before the fatal incident.
CCTV Footage Reveals Final Known Movements
One recording, captured between 10pm and 11pm, shows Mir Raza inside his kitchen. He takes a pistol from a drawer and carefully checks it. Afterwards, he places the weapon inside his car before leaving home.
Investigators believe he may have travelled toward his residence after that. However, another CCTV recording shows him walking alone at around 4:38am. The footage places him only a short distance from the crime scene. According to investigators, this remains the final known video of Mir Raza before his death.
His family stated he left his smartwatch, wallet and house keys at home. Instead, he carried only his mobile phone and around Rs1,000 in cash. He also booked an online taxi service before departing.
Police Recover Phone And Continue Forensic Investigation
Police recovered Mir Razaโs mobile phone around 200 yards from the crime scene. They also recovered a pistol holster from the same area. Subsequently, investigators sent both items for forensic examination.
Authorities continue awaiting the forensic report on the recovered mobile phone. Meanwhile, police expect the findings to provide important clues. Therefore, investigators remain focused on identifying those responsible for the murder.
