ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced its monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for April 2025, resulting in a nationwide electricity tariff increase of Rs0.93 per unit, effective from June bills. This adjustment applies to all consumers of power distribution companies (DISCOs) across Pakistan.
In a separate decision, NEPRA has granted a reduction of Rs2.99 per unit for K-Electric (KE) consumers in Karachi. This relief pertains to the March 2025 FCA and will be reflected in June electricity bills. The differential adjustments underscore NEPRA’s policy of regional pricing, considering varying energy procurement and fuel mix costs.
The tariff adjustments exclude lifeline consumers, domestic protected consumers, electric vehicle charging stations, and prepaid electricity consumers, who are not subject to these changes. The FCA mechanism revises electricity tariffs based on fluctuations in fuel costs, aiming to pass on the impact of such variations to consumers.
Consumers are advised to review their upcoming electricity bills for detailed information on the adjustments.
