The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a fuel cost rebate of Rs4.03 per unit for K-Electric (KE) consumers, to be adjusted in July’s electricity bills for power consumed during April.
In its notification issued on Wednesday, Nepra stated it has “decided to allow a negative FCA (Fuel Cost Adjustment) of Rs4.0349 per kWh for April 2025, which will be passed on to consumers in the billing month of July 2025.”
This adjustment will be applied to all KE consumer categories except lifeline users, protected domestic consumers, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), and prepaid customers under any category who have opted for prepaid tariffs.
Nepra clarified that the rebate will appear as a separate line in July bills and will be calculated based on the units billed in April. If any July bills have already been issued before this notification, the rebate will instead be applied in the following month’s bill.
The authority further noted that this negative FCA of Rs4.0349 per kWh is being granted provisionally, subject to revision after Nepra finalizes KE’s Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) for the financial years 2024–2030. Any cost differences arising from the approved MYT will be adjusted in future bills once officially notified.
Separately, Nepra also issued a notification approving a Rs0.49 per unit reduction in fuel charges for ex-Wapda distribution companies (Discos) due to changes in fuel costs for May.
According to this separate notification, Nepra reviewed and approved a national average decrease of Rs0.4952 per kWh in Disco tariffs, reflecting the variation in May’s fuel charges.
This adjustment applies to all Disco consumer categories except lifeline users, protected domestic consumers, EVCS, and prepaid consumers who have chosen prepaid tariffs. The rebate will appear as a separate item in July bills, calculated on units consumed in May.
If any July bills are prepared before this notification takes effect, the adjustment will instead be reflected in the subsequent month’s bill.
