The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a Rs 2.36 per unit increase in electricity prices across Pakistan under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for September 2026.
The regulator issued an official notification on November 7, confirming that consumers will face additional charges in their November electricity bills. Moreover, the adjustment will apply to consumers of K-Electric and other power distribution companies across the country.
September Fuel Adjustment Raises Electricity Costs
According to the notification, NEPRA approved a positive adjustment of Rs 2.3673 per unit following an increase in fuel costs during September. The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) had initially requested a higher adjustment of Rs 2.5624 per unit.
However, NEPRA reviewed the submitted figures and approved a lower increase after considering generation costs and other adjustments. Consequently, electricity distribution companies must recover the additional amount through November bills.
The adjustment will appear separately on consumers’ electricity bills and will depend on the number of units billed during September.
Certain Consumers Exempted From Additional Charges
Meanwhile, NEPRA clarified that the increase will apply to most electricity consumer categories under the applicable tariff arrangements. However, lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations and prepaid electricity users who opted for prepaid tariffs will remain exempt.
The regulator also confirmed that electricity consumption under the Incremental Consumption Package will fall within the adjustment. Furthermore, distribution companies must follow relevant court orders while implementing the revised charges.
Consumers who receive November bills before the notification takes effect may face the additional adjustment in their subsequent billing cycle. The latest increase adds further pressure to electricity expenses across Pakistan.
