Female students at Government Girls Middle School in Katha Chogali, Neelum Valley, staged a protest on Wednesday against the continued absence of teachers. The students blocked a road and chanted slogans against the education department, expressing concern about the impact on their studies.
The protesting girls said the repeated absence of female teachers was threatening their academic progress and future opportunities. Therefore, they demanded immediate intervention from the authorities to resolve the issue and restore regular teaching at their school.
Students Demand Action From Education Department
During the demonstration, the students urged the Azad Kashmir education minister to take immediate notice of the situation. They called on the education department to ensure teachers attend classes regularly and fulfil their responsibilities.
Moreover, the students stressed that authorities must protect their right to education by addressing staff absenteeism. They argued that prolonged disruptions could affect their academic performance and prevent them from completing their studies on time.
The protesters also called for accountability, insisting that the relevant department should take practical steps rather than allow the problem to continue. They maintained that regular teacher attendance remains essential for maintaining educational standards in government schools.
Road Protest Leads to Tense Exchange
Meanwhile, the road blockade reportedly triggered an unpleasant exchange between the protesting students and some drivers. According to reports, several drivers used inappropriate language while expressing frustration over the road closure.
Despite the confrontation, the students continued highlighting their concerns about the lack of teaching staff. They maintained that the education department must address the issue instead of allowing students’ academic futures to remain uncertain.
The protest has drawn attention to challenges facing students in remote areas of Azad Kashmir, where access to consistent educational services remains important. However, authorities have yet to announce specific measures to resolve the complaints raised by the students.
The students hope officials will respond promptly, ensure regular teacher attendance and prevent further disruption to their education.
