The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of heavy rain, thunderstorms and possible flooding across several parts of Pakistan.
The weather alert covers Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from September 25 to 30.
Heavy Rain Expected in Major Cities
Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Murree and Jhelum, among other areas.
The NDMA said a western weather system is expected to strengthen on September 25 and 26.
Heavy rainfall could trigger sudden rises in water levels in mountain streams and seasonal waterways. Hail is also possible in some areas.
Flash Flooding Risk in Mountain Areas
The authority warned of possible flooding in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Astore, Skardu, Roundu, Ghanche and Shigar.
In Azad Kashmir, Neelum Valley, Haveli, Poonch and Sudhanoti are among the areas facing potential flood risks.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the warning covers Swat, Bajaur, Dir, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra and several other districts.
Authorities Told to Prepare for Flooding
The NDMA warned that heavy rainfall could cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Murree and Galiyat.
Several Punjab districts, including Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Layyah, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Okara, Sahiwal and Jhang, may also face flooding.
The NDMA has directed relevant authorities to make advance preparations. Emergency response teams and essential resources have been asked to remain ready.
The public has been advised to avoid crossing seasonal streams, mountain waterways and roads covered by floodwater.
People living in low-lying and vulnerable areas have also been urged to remain alert and follow safety instructions.
