Raids Conducted in Johar Town and Faisal Town
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has raided alleged illegal call centers in Lahore’s Johar Town and Faisal Town.
More than three dozen people were detained during the operation. The suspects are being investigated over alleged fraud targeting foreign citizens.
According to the NCCIA, the call centers were allegedly used to deceive people abroad through fraudulent telecommunications schemes. These schemes were reportedly presented as mobile upgrades, network packages and other telecom-related services.
Computers, Phones and Dial-Up Software Seized
NCCIA teams recovered a large number of computers, laptops and mobile phones during the raids.
Officials said an initial examination of the seized devices found dial-up software and data allegedly connected with fraudulent activities.
The agency said the digital devices will undergo further forensic examination. Investigators are expected to use the recovered material to determine how the alleged operations were conducted and identify individuals involved.
Authorities are also investigating the roles of call center owners, facilitators and other alleged associates.
Additional Director Lahore Zone Atif Ameer said several vehicles were also seized during the operation. The vehicles were allegedly purchased using proceeds linked to criminal activities.
Investigation Continues Under PECA and PPC
The NCCIA said the investigation will determine the ownership and management structure of the call centers. It will also examine the involvement of other individuals connected with the alleged fraud network.
A case has reportedly been registered against the suspects under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the Pakistan Penal Code.
The agency said further investigation will establish the full scale of the suspected fraud and determine the legal responsibility of those involved.
