The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) decided on Friday to hold a winter sports festival in January of next year in order to attract tourists and promote local talent.
The decision was made at a high-level meeting presided over by Chief Secretary (CS) Muhammad Usman Charchar, which was attended by Secretaries and Director Generals (DGs) from the tourism, sports, culture, and information departments, as well as Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners from the northern regions.
The meeting approved the festival’s schedule, which will run from January 25 to February 4, with sports events taking place at Ganga Choti in Bagh District, Peer Chinasi in Muzaffarabad District, and Arang Kail in Neelum Valley District.
The Sports Secretary chaired an organising and management committee for the meeting, which included the DGs of sports, tourism, and public relations, commissioners from the three divisions, deputy inspector generals (DIGs) of police, and NGO representatives.
The CS directed all departments to collaborate and contribute to the festival’s success, including the issuance of NOC, security measures at event venues, accommodations for athletes and other dignitaries, transportation, and continuous road cleaning. areas that are easily accessible
He also directed the private sector’s participation in the festival’s successful organisation.
