Speaking amid the recent uproar following President Joe Biden’s remarks regarding Pakistan’s nukes, US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel stated that talks between the authorities in Islamabad and Washington are routine and a part of standard bilateral protocol.
Vedant Patel, the spokesman, refrained from making any remarks regarding the recent meeting of the Pakistani ambassador at the State Department.
“Officials from the US and Pakistan meet frequently at regular intervals. We generally refrain from commenting on the specifics and avoid engaging in private diplomatic relations “In response to a query regarding Sardar Masood Khan, the Pakistani ambassador to the US, visiting the State Department, he stated.
Only a few countries, according to Patel, have faced terrorism to the same degree as Pakistan.
The fight against terrorism is one of our shared interests, he continued.
According to him, the region is seriously threatened by groups like the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the US wants to work closely with Pakistan to fight terrorism.
“Pakistan has experienced more terrorism than most other nations. Threats to regional peace and security, including as the TTP, are shared interests of the US “said he.
He continued, “The US hopes Pakistan would act against international and regional terrorist organisations.”
“We seek a strong partnership with Pakistan on counterterrorism and expect sustained action against all militant and terrorist groups. We look forward to the cooperative efforts to eliminate all regional and global terrorist threats,” he added.
