Two Housemaids Hospitalized Following Alleged Torture by Employer in Lahore

A distressing case has emerged involving two housemaids—a mother and her teenage daughter—who have reportedly suffered severe abuse at the hands of their employer in Lahore. The incident took place in a housing society near the airport.

According to the police, the housemaid and her daughter were subjected to physical torture by the homeowner. The situation came to light when concerned locals alerted authorities about the young maid’s visibly severe injuries and bruises.

Following the report, the police arrested the accused homeowner and transported the victims to a hospital for urgent medical treatment. In her statement to the police, the housemaid detailed the horrific abuse she endured, including being beaten with sticks and forced to drink hot water.

A case has been registered against the homeowner based on the maid’s statement, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

This tragic event is part of a troubling pattern of abuse involving domestic workers. Last August, Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, a prominent figure from Ranipur, was arrested for allegedly torturing his 10-year-old maid, Fatima Furiro, leading to her death. The case gained widespread attention after disturbing videos of Fatima’s injuries were shared online.

Additionally, in a case from the previous month, 14-year-old Rizwana was hospitalized in Islamabad after enduring severe abuse by the wife of a judge. Rizwana’s testimony described brutal beatings with sticks and iron rods.

These incidents have sparked significant outrage and highlighted ongoing issues regarding the treatment of domestic workers, particularly minors. Human rights activists continue to advocate for better protections and justice for these vulnerable individuals.
