ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department said that most parts of the country are likely to experience light to heavy showers, accompanied by wind and thunderstorms on Sunday (tomorrow).
According to the met office, moist currents of the Arabian Sea are penetrating the upper parts of the country, leading to the expectation of rain in Kashmir, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today.
Tomorrow, hot and humid weather is anticipated in most parts of the country. However, rain/thundershowers are likely to hit Kashmir, Islamabad, the Pothohar region, northeast/east Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The met office cautioned that heavy falls may occur at a few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, and Kashmir during the forecast period.
This morning, the temperatures of some major cities were recorded as follows:
Islamabad and Muzafarabad: 24°C,Lahore: 26°C,Karachi: 29°C,Peshawar: 28°C,Quetta: 25°C,Gilgit: 20°C,Murree: 17°C.
Previously, the PMD had issued a warning that heavy rains could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore from August 4 to 7. Additionally, landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the wet spell.
The met office advised tourists and travelers to remain extra cautious to avoid any untoward situation during the wet spell. It also warned that windy thunderstorms may damage, loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.
