To demand the arrest of those responsible for the attack on a school vehicle in KP’s Swat district yesterday, thousands of people came to the streets on Tuesday for the second straight day.
On the key Kalam-Swat road, a sit-in was organised, obstructing the route for traffic.
Although no terrorist organisation has yet claimed credit for the incident, locals in Mingora allege that terrorists from outlawed organisations carried out the attack.
The Private School Management Association (PSMA), in the meantime, took part in a civil society protest at Nishat Chowk on Tuesday and announced the closure of all the district’s schools.
Nisar Ahmed, the executive secretary of PSMA, reported that some 1,200 schools in Swat were closed on Tuesday.
In the Guli Bagh hamlet, which is part of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Swat district, unidentified gunmen attacked a school van, killing the driver and injuring two kids.
Concerned about the state of law and order in KP is the defence minister
Yesterday, Khawaja Asif, the defence minister, expressed alarm about the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Khawaja Asif remarked that the province administration was in charge of upholding the law and order situation while speaking on the floor of the house. “Armed forces made immeasurable sacrifices to bring about peace in the nation.”
He suggested starting a discussion in the house about the state of the law and order in the KP province.
