The Sindh Home Ministry is accused of not cooperating in providing weapons data: CTD

KARACHI: The head of the Counter-Terrorism Department, Raja Umar Khattab, has claimed that the Sindh home ministry has not cooperated in providing information on the weapons supply lines in Karachi.

In an exclusive interview, Raja Umar Khattab reported that the IG Sindh assigned the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to monitor the weapons supply line, particularly in Karachi.

However, he mentioned that despite numerous efforts, the Sindh Home Ministry was unsuccessful in providing the necessary data.

The Chief of the Criminal Tracking Department allegedly stated that an investigation uncovered 17 weapon suppliers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the source of firearms in Karachi.

These illicit weapons are being smuggled into the city by traversing two provinces, using both transportation and online delivery methods.

Khattab stated that a significant number of unlawful firearms in Karachi are primarily possessed by street criminals, who often exchange these weapons among themselves to commit various street offenses.

The Chief of Traffic and Discipline proposed severe consequences for individuals found with unlawful firearms within the city, following a 24-hour period for weapon registration.
