Senior PTI leader Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati arrested

Geo News claimed on Thursday, citing unnamed sources, that senior PTI leader Senator Muhammad Azam Khan Swati had been taken into custody.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said he was arrested earlier today at his home in the federal capital.

After the agency’s Cybercrime Wing (CCW) filed a case late last night, the PTI lawmaker was arrested for allegedly controversial tweets.

According to the sources, Azam Swati has been accused of making anti-institutional statements and inciting people.

He is the third senior leader of Imran Khan’s PTI to be detained by the FIA, following Saifullah Khan Nyazee and Hamid Zaman. Nyazee and Zaman, on the other hand, are being investigated for their alleged involvement in the illegal funding of the party.

PTI Secretary General Asad Umar condemned the move and demanded Swati’s immediate release.
