Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of tarnishing the reputation of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, adding that PTI had contributed to fostering a violent political climate. Speaking on Wednesday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader criticized PTI for what he termed an aggressive approach that has escalated hostility in politics.
Sanaullah condemned the alleged attack on former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, urging accountability for those responsible. “Those involved in this incident must be brought to justice,” he emphasized.
He further highlighted the authority granted to the Supreme Court by the parliament, explaining that the judicial committee’s formation was in strict accordance with parliamentary law. “Parliament has vested comprehensive authority in the Supreme Court,” Sanaullah said, elaborating that the judiciary’s independence in establishing benches, as well as appointing judges, remains safeguarded by legislative mandate.
“Each judge in the apex court holds an equal position, and it is up to the judiciary to decide on the inclusion of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah or Justice Muneeb Akhtar,” Sanaullah added, underscoring the institutional autonomy.
In a pointed remark toward PTI’s founder, he commented, “If the PTI chief hopes for intervention from leaders like Donald Trump for his release, he may be better off remaining in custody,” insinuating a dismissal of any external influence on judicial matters within Pakistan.
