Punjab enforces Section 144, restricting protests and rallies for three days

The Punjab government has enforced Section 144 across the province, effective from November 23 to November 25, prohibiting all public demonstrations, meetings, processions, rallies, and sit-ins. This directive, detailed in an official notification, aims to uphold law and order during the designated period.

Officials explained that the decision was taken due to concerns over potential unrest arising from large public gatherings. By imposing this temporary ban, authorities intend to preempt disruptions and safeguard public safety as well as property.

The measure is described as a precautionary step, ensuring a peaceful environment and minimizing risks of conflicts or disturbances in the province. Citizens are urged to comply with the restrictions to maintain harmony.

The implementation of Section 144 underscores the government’s proactive approach to mitigating any security concerns and preserving social order.
