Sindh: The Sindh Government has announced a public holiday for schools and colleges on February 26 in observance of Shab-e-Barat, according to a notification issued by the Education Department. This decision, made in line with the decision of the Steering Committee meeting, encompasses all public and private educational institutions under the administrative control of the College Education Department.
Shab-e-Barat, also known as The Night of Fortune and Forgiveness, holds significant religious importance for Muslims in Pakistan and other parts of the world. Falling on the 15th of Shaban, it precedes the Holy month of Ramadan, marking a night of spiritual reflection and devotion.
On this occasion, believers observe the night with religious fervor, offering nawafil prayers in mosques and making special supplications for unity, prosperity, security, and peace in the country, as well as for the unity and prosperity of the entire Muslim Ummah.
Shab-e-Barat is often regarded as a night of blessings and accountability, where Muslims believe that Almighty Allah assesses and decrees matters concerning the lives, deaths, bestowments, and blessings for the upcoming year. It is a time for introspection, seeking forgiveness, and strengthening one’s connection with the divine.
