Following the shooting, Shahbaz Gill, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claimed on Thursday that while the identity of the alleged killer of Imran Khan was questionable, some persons had taken the suspect’s statement and transmitted it to news outlets.
He claimed that while the accused assailant was wearing a waistcoat in the video, it was missing from the later photograph taken while he was making the statement. He claimed that although the facts were being misrepresented by giving them a different hue, Imran Khan was the target of an assassination attempt. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, vice chairman of the PTI, asked the populace and party members to maintain composure and harmony.
Imran Ismail, the head of the PTI, claimed in a statement that the shooter’s confession appeared to be an eyewash intended to create confusion in the country. “Clearly distinguishable from the gunfire fired by this individual, I heard a burst from an automatic rifle.”
He declared, “The Supreme Court must intervene to establish a judicial commission to examine the murder of Arshad Sharif, which would reveal today’s conspiracy.”
Qureshi issued a statement in which he made a plea, requesting that everyone in the country exercise restraint, wisdom, and compliance with the law. “Our long march has been proceeding calmly for the previous six days. The choice regarding the long march and subsequent course of action was made after discussions with Imran Khan.
Separately, Rana Sanaullah, the interior minister, was called into custody for the alleged attempted assassination of Imran Khan by PTI Senior Vice-President Dr. Shireen Mazari. She responded to the incident on Twitter by writing, “Rana Sana vowed to murder IK and today we watched him attempt that. He needs to be detained for attempted murder, as evidenced by his statements in public. “Raises the question of if the true killer has escaped and the man captured was a ruse,” she wrote in another tweet. But one thing is certain: those who continuously making threats had this assassination attempt prepared.
Imran Khan was the target of a well-planned assassination attempt, according to PTI SVP Chaudhry Fawad Hussain; the bullet used wasn’t a 9mm round; rather, it was a burst from an automatic rifle. There are no two ways about it: it was a tight escape. Additionally, he asserted that some TV networks and journalists were colouring the horrific attack, which would not be effective. Your neck will be reached by our hands. There will be retaliation for this; the problem won’t be resolved by sending particular journalists WhatsApp messages and obtaining splashy media coverage, he continued.
