PTI Chairman Shifted To District Attock Jail

ISLAMABAD: Authorities shifted the PTI chairman to the district jail Attock amid strict security measures.

Before bringing the PTI chief to the jail, they sealed the routes leading to Attock jail and barred media persons from accessing the route or Attock jail. An elite police force has been deployed outside Attock jail.

Earlier today, they arrested the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman from his Zaman Park residence in Lahore shortly after he was found guilty of “corrupt practices” in the Toshakhana case and sentenced to three years in prison.

PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi confirmed the arrest of the PTI chairman in the Toshakhana case. PTI’s Punjab Chapter also corroborated the reports with a tweet: “Imran Khan is being moved to Kot Lakhpat Jail.”

The court also fined the convicted PTI chief Rs 100,000. Furthermore, the court declared the former prime minister ineligible to hold public office for five years.

PTI To Challenge Imran Khan’s Conviction In Toshakhana Case

Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the Vice Chairman of PTI, vehemently rejected the conviction and arrest of Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case. He expressed that the ruling by the trial court was feared to be state-sanctioned and premeditated. Qureshi conveyed that PTI will use all legal channels to challenge the conviction against Khan.

However, Qureshi cited concerns about the fairness of the trial. He questioned whether Imran Khan, a 70-year-old, was granted a fair trial as mandated by Article 10(1) of the Constitution, which ensures justice for every citizen.
