Proposal to close all educational institutions in Lahore for three days

A proposal has been put forward to close all educational institutions—schools, colleges, and universities—in Lahore for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to address the severe smog affecting the city.

The proposal also recommends implementing a “green lockdown” in Gulberg and nearby areas. Sources indicate that this lockdown may extend to include Liberty, MM Alam Road, and the Main Market, in addition to regions already under consideration near the Shimla Hills.

The proposals will be presented to Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb by the Commissioner of Lahore Division and the Secretary of Environment. The final decision on the closures and the green lockdown will be made by Minister Aurangzeb.
